In Celebration Of The Day The World Didn't End

1844 - This day is recognized as "The Great Disappointment" among those who practiced Millerism. The world was expected to come to an end according to the followers of William Miller. (Read)

As a student of history, it is interesting to note, that what happened in the past has great importance to what is happening today. On another note, what did NOT happen in the past also has great importance to us today because the "prophecies" of yesterday which we can look at today as ludicrous should be seen as just that, false prophecies.

Throughout time followers of "religion" have looked for the end of times, when magically God steps in to save the world from all evil. But what does this do to our own mentality if we take this to it's end? For one thing, if taken to extremes, it can relieve us of our responsibilities to our fellow man to make the world a better place, because after all, it's impossible, only God can do that. But more dangerously, it can lead men to make dire decisions affecting others in ways no God of love would desire. And politically it can lead to disaster, because in the goal to reach that time of worldly bliss which has never been achievable, it can lead to political decisions made to do just that, bring about the end of the world in ways prophesized by charlatans.

Today the most dangerous of these religious movements is Christian Zionism, yet they claim it is "Islamofascism" which is the most dangerous. I ask this, who has the POWER to wield over people and ARE wielding it? Is it so called "Islamic terrorists" who have killed a relatively small number of people, or is it the Christian Zionists who through their political power (leading to military action) have blindly supported the State of Israel in all they do, KNOWING they should do this because their utopia is dependent upon it. But taken even further, in this "war to end all wars" when God comes down to "save the earth" the Jews who do not convert to Christianity will be tough out of luck.

William Miller was wrong in the 1800's, the Jehovah's Witnesses were wrong in 1975 and the Christian Zionists are wrong NOW. For NO GOD OF LOVE wishes for his children to suffer at the hands of another, and NO GOD OF LOVE would condone occupation, oppression, imprisonment and war waged in his name.

That is just my thought for this day, the CELEBRATION of the proof that charlatans instilling fear and hatred in people's hearts are WRONG.

Youtube: "Rapture Ready: The Christians United for Israel Tour"Max Blumenthal's latest takes us on a shocking and at times bizarre tour of right-wing Pastor John Hagee's annual Washington-Israel Summit, blowing the cover off the Christian Zionist movement in the process. Starring Joe Lieberman, Tom DeLay, Pastor John Hagee, Ambassador Dore Gold and a host of rapture-ready evangelicals praying for Armaggedon.
