Israel Holds French Envoy at Checkpoint for Hours

I suppose this will be explained............but then again........

Israeli security authorities were on Friday preventing the French consul-general from crossing a checkpoint outside the West Bank town of Bethlehem into Jerusalem, a consulate official said.

By late evening, Alain Remy and his entourage had been held for almost three hours at the crossing by security personnel wanting to search their diplomatic vehicles, the official told AFP.

"The vehicles are not allowed to cross the checkpoint despite multiple requests by the consulate for the relevant Israeli authorities to intervene," he said.

Bethlehem is located several kilometers (miles) south of Jerusalem

There was no immediate reaction from the Israeli army.

Israel deploys hundreds of checkpoints and roadblocks across the occupied West Bank in a bid to stop militant attacks, rendering the free movement of Palestinians across the territory almost impossible.
