Interview with Dr. Mona El-Farra, Stranded at the Rafah Crossing

This morning on KPFK in Los Angeles, Margaret Prescod, "Sojourner Truth", was able to finally reach Dr. Mona El Farra, vice-president of the Palestinian Red Crescent and Director of M.E.C.A.
(Middle East Children's Association) by phone at the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing. Dr. Mona has been stranded there with 6000 others since July 9th. Many of the others have been there since early June, unable to cross the border home. Two days ago, Dr. Mona heard news of her mother's death in Gaza. Dr. Mona plead on her own blog for help to reach her mother. That help did not materialize. Many hearts go out to you in this time of grief Dr. Mona, many hearts.
To listen to the interview with Dr. Mona link here (you will have to fast forward slightly to get to the point at which Dr. Mona speaks. She says that now 50 people have died waiting at this border to return home. The following letter has been written by Karin of Munich and a Little Bit of Everything.

IN MY NAME AND THE NAME OF COUNTLESS OTHERS I AM APPEALING TO EVERYONE, TO ALL GOVERNMENTS IN A POSITION TO HELP:

Facititate the OPENING of the boarder!!

Help to STOP the suffering of more than 6000 innocent people who are trapped and forced to live under inhumane conditions to at the Egyptian side of the RAFAH border since close to TWO FULL MONTHS, being injustly deprived of even the very basics!

DO YOUR PART in preventing more pregnant women to be forced to give birth without any medical assistance under inhumane conditions, in helping the sick and elderly to get the help they desperately need, in avoiding even more people to have to go through the same horrors Mona and her mother - and so many other innocent people - are forced to !

ALLOW THE PEOPLE TO GO HOME!!
